Slice cultures     -Cerebellum-                                                Publication list

Example: Spontaneous Activities from Cultured Cerebellum

Left, Center: Cerebellar slice cultured on MED probe. The slice was prepared from 10-day old rat and grown in culture for 10 days on a membrane, then transferred to the MED probe. The diagram (center) shows the gross structure and electrode arrangement

Right: Spontaneous activity recorded from multiple channels. The recording sites and the corresponding channels within the slice are indicated in the image and schematic above.
Single units can be followed for extended periods of time (up to 2 weeks).
The physiology of, pharmacology of, and the characterization of synapses on cerebellar neurons can be examined over periods of several weeks. Cultures on MED64 probes are viable for several months.
