Example 1: Drug Effect of
SCN Neurons
[Left] Micrograph
of a rat SCN slice on MED-P515A probe (150 mm
inter-polar distance)
[Right]
Spontaneous activities of SCN neuron recorded at the electrode
marked in red. The activities decreased in the presence of
serotonin

Serotonin
appeared to reduce the rate of spontaneous firing in a
dose-dependent manner. The rate of spontaneous activity seen
in the baseline period (approximately 4 hz) decreased
substantially with increasing doses (1-10 mM)
of serotonin, and partial recovery was observed after washing
out the drug
